Academically, I was privileged. I did my best to excel in my studies and equip myself with the right skills and tools to succeed in my business career. In my passage through four UK Universities, I was awarded with a First Class Honours degree in Computer Science (University of Portsmouth), a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (University of Edinburgh), post doctoral experience (The Open University) and Senior Research experience working on and coordinating large research programmes (University of Southampton).

Professionally, my work experience is customer facing, working closely with the customer to understand and elicit their requirements in a well orchestrated manner, capturing latent needs so that the end product will meet and exceed expectations. I worked as a sales specialist, a technical editor, an IT instructor, a software developer, a consultant; investment specialist, technology advisor, all in a variety of posts in the wider IT and technology sector in UK and global companies.

I have been researching and developing technologies for the Semantic Web for about 11 years. It has been great fun and an eye opener. The Semantic Web has brought to bare opportunities and challenges never seen before in the history of sciences. I approach it from a strong, disciplined, knowledge engineering angle, as my stake is in Artificial Intelligence and in particular Ontologies. Then, the blending of Web technologies with all the formal semantic machinery gave me insight on how knowledge management tasks can be automated and operate on a global scale: the World Wide Web. The appeal and outreach (as the Web reaches more than 2 billion users and counting….), is simply mind boggling…..
